Hello, I am Laura Bertinelli, a graphic designer and illustrator who loves cats, cooking and collecting knick-knacks.

This is where I get together all the (beautiful) things that inspire me and where I write down my life tales.

Ciao!! How are you, my dear and passionate readers?

Today I am going back to Roma, with a load of new books I was given for my birthday and with some extra money for shopping! Finally, I can buy a pair of boots! :]
Hooray!

Here are some links, ready to share:

♥ Tavi Gevinson talks about feminism: she is so smart and YOUNG! Oh, I really admire her.

♥ These photos by Laura Alice Watt are incredible: soft lights, bright colors and great landscapes. Yes please!

♥ I really like food photography, I find it really difficult and therefore I admire food photographers. This is a tumblr blog about food, higly recommended!

♥ And now, some design related links: this Alfazoo is a collection of animals created with type. It is really interesting, and with such a vintage vibe!

♥ Milton Glaser talks about the 10 things he learned in his lifetime and professional career:
“It makes me nervous when someone believes too deeply or too much. I think that being sceptical and questioning all deeply held beliefs is essential. Of course we must know the difference between scepticism and cynicism because cynicism is as much a restriction of one’s openness to the world as passionate belief is. They are sort of twins. And then in a very real way, solving any problem is more important than being right”

♥ Nubby Twiglet writes about being ourselves while designing: so true! I believe she is a great designer and I really admire her work!

♥ This video from the ad campaign for HP printers left me speechless.

This is the smallest stopmotion video ever filmed!
“Professor Fletcher’s invention of the CellScope, which is a Nokia device with a microscope attachment, was the inspiration for a teeny-tiny film created by Sumo Science at Aardman. It stars a 9mm girl called Dot as she struggles through a microscopic world. All the minuscule detail was shot using CellScope technology and a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics.”
It is amazing to see how powerful is technology nowadays, isn’t it?

See you next Thursday for more delicious links!
Have an amazing day and a delightful evening,

Thursday Links

Well, long time no see! After a LONG month of vacation, I am back, productive and ready to work! Tomorrow I am going to Roma, to my lovely boyfriend S. and my apartment [I’m scared! My housemate isn’t really a precise and good housekeeper… I’m sure there will be lots of work to do to tidy up!].

So, my links to share for this week are just a few, but please forgive me! I’ve been away from internet for A MONTH!! :O

——

♥ Tron Legacy will soon be out! I’m so excited!! I loved the first Tron, and I really hope that this sequel will satisfy my expectations. The website is très cool, and you can hear the tracks to the official soudtrack by DAFT PUNK! That’s an extra bonus to the movie!

♥ Musicphilosophy.co.uk is a collection of typographic posters dedicated to love song quotes: some of them are great, both for the design and the quality of the quote. My favorites: ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥.
You can also buy some printed versions of the posters, to hang on your walls!

♥ I found this blog, Candycoateduniverse, which is the collection of works by Sara, a designer who is also part of the Tenfold Collective from Colorado, US. Great illustrations, great brand identity design, I’d love to work for them, heheh!

♥ Lovely Tavi Gevinson and her sister Rivkah filmed a short movie, Chalk, and I liked it a lot. It’s charming, delicate and sweet.

♥ Oh, this is why I love/hate and admire/envy Japanese people: streetsofjapan.tumblr.com. Some of the looks in the pictures make me freak out!

♥ This is another website that left me speechless: www.dirtycarart.com. So, it seems that somewhere in the world is someone who feels very creative in front of a dirty car. The usual “WASH ME!” on the rear window is out of date! Why not a Monnalisa? Or a Van Gogh? This is rad!!

♥ I don’t usually believe in internet personality tests, which are often approximate and unreliable, but this one is based on the Myers-Briggs type indicator, and it actually worked! I came out as an ISTJ personality, which is COMPLETELY true on most of the aspects. And you?

♥ For the firs time, I’d like to introduce you to my work: I uploaded on my online portfolio the latest university project I’ve been working on. Here is the Blood Donation Campaign I created with two other friends of mine. Hope you like it!

♥ Speaking of university and work, I decided I want to buy a personal planner, a Filofax, to be precise. BUT, I can’t decide between these two: the raspberry Metropol, or the black Domino? Please help! The Metropol is more expensive, but I love the color; the Domino is really cheap, [thus, I can add lots of extra accessories whitout exceeding my not-so-high-budget] but maybe I should choose a “girly-er” type? Help! ç_ç

Have a great weekend, and stay tuned for my travel update part 2!
Love and raspberries,

L.

[Evil furniture illustration! Great! But I can’t credit… :( Sorry!]
