Hello, I am Laura Bertinelli, a graphic designer and illustrator who loves cats, cooking and collecting knick-knacks.

This is where I get together all the (beautiful) things that inspire me and where I write down my life tales.

After a long (and much needed) break from computers, internet and various social media recreations, I am back and ready to face 2012.

My mind, and my life as well, was pretty cluttered in the past few weeks, so I had to rest a bit, relax and enjoy my holidays in Rome with my boyfriend.
I decided to write down some resolutions for 2012, and somehow I came out with a list of guidelines as well as some goals.

Here is what I wrote (it is now placed inside my Filofax!):

I need to stay focused on who/what I love, and on what I like doing: thus, I decided to set monthly (and easy) goals. I need to relax and to fight the performance anxiety that haunts me in most occasions. I want to find a job and to do freelance work. I want to do more illustrations and sketches, and to practice handmade type & calligraphy. I want to read more books and watch more movies. I want to be happy and to love what I’m doing, where I’m doing it, and the people I have around me.

2011 has been great, for an incredible amount of reasons: I finished university, I began doing freelance work, I launched my personal website, built strong friendships with awesome people and strenghtened my relationship with S.
But it has also been awful: I had to leave Rome (hopefully it’s just temporary) and to experience a long distance relationship; I had to go back to a “regular” family life, with all its pros and cons, and I had to struggle not to make this particular moment of my life feel as a jump back in time.

Therefore 2012, I have great plans for you and me!

Also, I decided to start a 52 weeks project!
Every week, I’ll post an illustrated version of my Thursday Love List. I am very determined to do it regularly, and the idea of having to draw something every week is both scary and inspiring. I love challenges! Let’s see how it goes! I’ll begin next Thursday.

Have you ever done a 52 weeks project? Or even harder, a 365 days challenge?
I’m super curious about it!

Love, always!

February!

♥

So, February is already here! The previous month has been full of new, unexpected things: actually, so many that I found it hard to set my priorities and to understand what was more important to me. Anyways, I have to admit that I liked January quite a lot.

But now, I feel the need to set some resolutions (some achievable ones!) for the new month that is beginning today. I decided to write them here, so that they could serve as an “official” reminder of my duties:

♥ Studying hard for the upcoming exam (14th Feb) and passing it with a good grade

♥ Finishing the book I’m working on: this means 13 illustrations, cover design and creating the layout for the pages

♥ Doing research & sketches for my degree project (in order to get my degree next July!)

♥ Designing my own website & organizing its contents (actually, the design is almost done, now I need some time to do some photo-editing and writing all the informations needed)

♥ Trying to spend less time in front of my computer (i.e. less internetting!)

♥ Having some quality-time with my boyfriend & friends, always.

——

All of these things are really important: I will devote myself to the accomplishment of (hopefully) all of them, trying not to distract myself. I need to be clear-headed, lucid, so that in March I will easily face new challenges (such as, finding a new home).

I will keep you updated on my improvements!

And you, do you have any monthly resolutions, or do you prefer not to set any?
I’d love to hear your stories!

Love, always!
