Hello, I am Laura Bertinelli, a graphic designer and illustrator who loves cats, cooking and collecting knick-knacks.

This is where I get together all the (beautiful) things that inspire me and where I write down my life tales.

London!

I’ve been very internet-quiet lately, and do you know why?
I’m going to London next week!

Looking for new work experiences and (most important) to live new ADVENTURES!
It’s time for me to be audacious, I’m ready to face changes and to be a bit silly/crazy as well!

Plus, I can’t wait to be there to meet my two dearest penpals, Viktorija and Charlotte!

So, now I want you to flood me with links, suggestions and advices about places to visit, shops, restaurants, parks… everything! YAY!

In just 7 days I will be in a whole new world! Eeeek!

Hitnes, “Paginae Naturalis”

On Saturday I went to the Zoology Museum here in Roma to see one of the most beautiful exhibitions I’ve seen in a while: Paginae Naturalis, by street artist Hitnes.

It was AWESOME!

Paginae naturalis is an exhibition of acrylic paintings on paper, a collection of naturalistic illustrations made on vintage newspapers, music sheets, ancient Greek poems… all sorts of antique papers from all over the world.

The setting was surreal: hundreds of stuffed animals inside glass display cases, and next to them these beautiful paintings. I took some crappy pics with instagram:

My favorite paintings were the birds series, but really, every single piece is wonderful.

Check the website to see the whole collection!

The exhibition will be open until April 7, so if you are in Roma you should really go and have a look.

#iseefaces is my new favorite game

When I was a little girl my brother and I used to play a lot the “I see faces” game, and now that I’m older, I still look for faces in objects and landscapes.

Faces can be seen anywhere, and one day I spotted this face made of dead leaves on the sidewalk: I took a photo and uploaded it on instagram, to find out that it’s full of photos tagged #iseefaces (just you try!)

So, here are some of my latest facespotting photos!

Do you play this game? Ever played it?
I’m sure that I will fill my instagram feed with new #iseefaces photos, now that I found out that I’m not the only one! :D

This week has been SO GOOD!

I went to see Micah P. Hinson playing live <3, then the following day I went to the cinema (Goro Miyazaki’s From up on Poppy Hill is beyond great, I loved it), on Wednesday an exhibition about the Silk Road, then dinners with friends and delicious food: yesterday I cooked yakisoba! <3

This week I won’t be posting my Illustrated Love List (I’m quite busy drawing Christmas cards… soon they will be ready!), so here are a few photos from the past few days.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I did some shopping and I found the PERFECT wedge ankle boot. I’m in love. <3

Mini Pony hair is the best.

(I think I’m in love)

<3

Now, before I dive into a full immersion in illustration, let me share with you my new favorite song: Ue o Muite Arukou by Kyu Sakamoto. It is a 60s Japanese song that is part of the From Up On Poppy Hill soundtrack!

Love, always!

Double blog post today, ehe!
I just wanted to share with you some photos of the past few days, which involve some food, and lots of cute items (as the umbrella in the below image… I love it!).

(The Darjeeling Limited is a fantastic film!!)

See you next week, internet! I need to detox from the computer now! :D

Some Instagram photos from the past few days!

This one below is a super cute kitty… I was about to take him home with me! <3
But please note his mom, peeking from behind… aha! I love cats with white paws, they seem that they’re wearing socks!

Meet Miss Takahashi, the newest addition to my office desk!

Yesterday in the studio there was this super cute 5 years old boy who suffers from epidermolysys bullosa (which I’ve never heard of, and it’s AWFUL); he was sitting next to me and he was such a talented illustrator!

He made for me this Batman & Spiderman portrait, and I love it. <3

Silly faces in the bathroom.

And now, I’m ready for the weekend!

Love, always

First week in Rome after 20 days of holiday! I am slowly getting back to reality (work, office, bills and so on), but I am doing quite good!

Lots of things have changed, both in a bad and in a good way, but anyways, I’m here, and I don’t want my little blog to be covered in dust!

(the first photo was taken in Perugia, what an awesome piece of street art!)

This has definitely been the “oh I love my friends SO MUCH” summer!

I have been reading and writing lots of letters and emails (as well as hanging out with friends while in my hometown of course), and the ever lovely Charlotte sent me this handmade card, which I received today! <3

Maybe you noticed reading my twitter feed that I have a new laptop! An AMAZING GREAT FANTASTIC Macbook Pro with retina screen! O.O
I am in awe everytime I see it on my desk, I still can’t believe that I really own it.

Also pictured, an ominous seagull that was way too close to my balcony, and my attempt to step out of my color comfort zone: a yellow t-shirt. In the past few months I’ve only been wearing black, grey and sometimes some pink or purple accessories.

—

Today I had a lazy day at work, so my studiomates and I decided to have lunch in the park near the studio. So relaxing! I love picnics.

What are your plans for the weekend?
Me, I’d like to go to the cinema (I need to see Batman!!), and I also have to do some personal projects… and I have to dye my purple locks!

Love, always

My holidays officially begin today!
I have 20 days to completely devote to myself: I’ll be working on personal projects, relaxing and having fun in my hometown with my friends and family.

I am going through a really intense moment of my life, and I definitely need some time off… and I need my cats! Oh, I miss them so much. <3

What are your plans for your holidays?

Love, always!

Here are a few images from the past two weeks…
I spent lots of pleasant evenings with friends, and the weather in these days isn’t too hot, so I had quite a perfect week.

—

New on my wall: this super sweet and lovely illustration made by my boyfriend. I love him so SO much.

In my hometown, last weekend, for 3 days full of friends, cats and weird plants.

This plant, tillandsia, doesn’t need water nor water. I could grow a garden of it!

:D

This has also been the BFF week! My international BFF is in town, and I couldn’t be happier!

Have a great weekend,

My blogging schedule is a bit messed up, I know! Here are some pics from the past week!

Above, one of my creations powered by Mr.Chiizu. I was chatting with my brother and the stupid autocorrect changed “armadio” (closet) to “area dio” (God area): so we started looking for interesting hidden corners in our rooms and creating weird gods in them!

The  Rethink Play  pins have arrived! I can’t wait to see them with my eyes!

Lots, LOTS of sun + heat. My ghostly palor is now threatened by the boiling hot weather (around 32°C!).

Today it was so hot that me and S. decided to hide in a park, under the shade of a pine tree for the whole afternoon.

Jalapenos! YUMMY!

My boyfriend found an old Polaroid camera in a thrift shop (it was a bargain! 15€!) so we are now super excited about it. These are the first four photos we took, we decided to use the camera mainly for portraits.

The only downside is that the films are SO EXPENSIVE: 20€ for 8 photos! I was so sad when the pic that I took came out overexposed… but hey, that’s lomography isn’t it?

Love, always!

It’s Friday, yay!
This has been a quiet week, with some good moments of relax, both with my boyfriend and my housemate. On Wednesday I went to the cinema (we saw Cosmopolis, and I loved it!), while today a long night of drawing is waiting for me!

I’ve been also reading a lot (my June proposition is: buy more book than clothes)! I am now into HP Lovecraft… love his stories and I wonder how come I’ve never read them before. Also, everyday I am more and more convinced that I have a inner goth persona, but it’s hidden under a layer of kawaii-ness.

This is the latest logo I designed, and now that I can see it out in the streets I am very excited and happy! I will share more about it very very soon. :)

My super top-secret project is ready to leave! I am going to the post office tomorrow… just you wait! <3 <3

I am not a huge coffee lover, but when it comes to iced, smooth coffee, I’m into it! This was with a hint of cinnamon too… yum! My co-worker Martina sure knows how to boost a hot afternoon.

♥

Have a great weekend! Me, I have to catch up with the Love Lists!
